(impromptu) Run

At this point, we must decide how to approach an additional performance, which is scheduled to be fifteen-minutes with only Mate, Roi, and Omer. Furthermore, for this version of Azathoth, the theater space will be set up frontally, so there is a fair bit of adjusting to do. This extra performance is brought on by the scheduling needs of the festival, and a perhaps ill-advised desire for additional performances on Omer’s part. We play a bit with the potentials and challenges of Azathoth as a frontal duet, deciding to emphasize the frontality and the linear compositions it proposes. The reference of “The Color of the Pomegranates” by Sergei Parajanov resonates; we decide to frame the performance with a clear “spot” of light. Mate suggests we call it “Azathoth (impromptu)”, to emphasize that it is but an impetuous function of a larger process. Undergoing as many runs as possible, we invite Raz and Suski to feedback, and to attempt the new structure themselves so we can learn through watching.
